Fifth Down Capital(“Fifth Down”), a Boston-based venture capital firm, has an opening for an Assistant Director of Investor Relations, focusing on Capital Formation. Founded in 2014, Fifth Down Capital is looking for a highly motivated and team-oriented individual to join our growing organization.

The Assistant Director of Investor Relations will report to the Director of Investor Relations and will manage capital raising and strategy for various types of private investment vehicles, including funds, fund-of-funds, special purpose vehicles (SPVs), and secondary funds. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated person to lead certain fundraising and investor development initiatives.

This individual will parter internally with Fifth Down’s investment, platform, compliance, and investor relations teams to improve current processes and implement a portfolio-wide framework for future marketing and fundraising efforts. They will also play a critical role in cultivating relationships with existing and prospective investors and supporting capital raising efforts across existing and future investment vehicles.

The ideal candidate possesses exceptional relationship and project management skills, as well as a deep understanding of private investment vehicle structuring and related investor terms. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and be a key contributor to building out a best-in-class venture capital firm.

This role offers a great deal of flexibility so it will also require a driven and self-motivated candidate. Fifth Down currently offers a fully remote work environment.

Specific responsibilities of this position include:

  • Develop and cultivate relationships with both existing and prospective investors, serving as a trusted representative of the firm.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate the firm's investment strategies, fund structures, and key terms to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Design and execute firm-wide capital formation initiatives, including investor segmentation, target investor outreach strategies, and broader market positioning efforts.
  • Partner with senior leadership to support the development, structuring, and launch of new investment strategies, funds, and special purpose vehicles.
  • Identify and source prospective limited partners through proactive research, industry networking, referrals, conferences, and intermediary relationships.
  • Manage and maintain the firm's CRM system and fundraising pipeline, including investor activity tracking, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Prepare investor presentations, meeting materials, and due diligence responses, coordinating closely with investment and operations teams.
  • Foster long-term relationships with existing LPs through proactive communication, personalized engagement, and exceptional client service.
  • Enhance and refine fundraising materials, marketing collateral, and investor communications to support capital raising and brand-building initiatives.

Candidates should possess the following characteristics and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree and/or relevant professional certifications are a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in capital formation, business development, investor relations, or fundraising within the investment management industry.
  • Established experience working with Family Offices, Ultra-High-Net-Worth (UHNW) individuals, and other private market investors preferred.
  • Prior experience at a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) or alternative asset management firm is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of developing, scaling, or enhancing capital formation and fundraising programs.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to cultivate trust and successfully raise capital from sophisticated investors.
  • Experience managing CRM platforms and maintaining disciplined investor pipeline tracking, reporting, and forecasting processes.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, including the ability to prepare investor presentations, due diligence materials, and strategic meeting content.
  • Deep understanding of investment strategies, fund structures, and private market products, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively to investors, consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with a client-service-oriented approach.
