Description:
Carlson Private Capital Partners is seeking an outstanding candidate for a Vice President position. Based in Minneapolis, the Vice President will be an integral member of a small, collaborative investment team and will have a broad range of responsibilities and leadership opportunities through all aspects of private equity investing.

This role is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced deal-professional to join an investment firm with a supportive, collaborative culture and distinct advantages compared to traditional firms. She/he will play a “deal quarterback” role in the investment process, including participating actively in the firm’s strategic relationships, deal sourcing, due diligence, financing, and structuring. She/he will also play an active support and leadership role in the firm’s portfolio management and value creation initiatives. Specific Responsibilities

  • Build meaningful relationships with investment bankers, lenders, and trusted advisors
  • Develop investment themes and unique expertise in identified sectors of focus
  • Lead financial diligence, business diligence and manage 3rd party advisors
  • Develop and coordinate financial analyses, reports and presentations that provide insight and facilitate investment decisions
  • Lead the preparation of investment recommendations to the firm’s investment committee
  • Manage outside lender relationships to support deal structuring and financings
  • Train, manage and mentor a team of highly-talented associates
  • Build and manage relationships with management teams, assist portfolio companies as needs arise
  • Contribute to the strategic direction and actions to continue to build a world-class investment firm

Success at CPC is measured both by the individual’s contributions and the ability to make the team better as a whole.

Successful candidates will have superior analytical skills, excellent writing and research skills, and a comprehensive understanding of accounting and finance principles. It is important that she/he have both the willingness and demonstrated ability to assist throughout the investment process.

The successful candidate will have outstanding interpersonal skills and the presence, maturity, and communication skills to establish credibility both inside and outside of CPC. She/he will have an exceptional work ethic and a background reflecting a high level of achievement. She/he must be proactive and comfortable working in a small firm environment and the ability to function with minimal supervision. 

Experience Requirements

  • 6-8+ years of relevant work experience, including investment banking, management consulting and private equity
  • 4+ years of principal investment experience in private equity
  • High level of academic achievement; MBA preferred not required
  • Extensive financial modeling skills, including building complex operating models
  • Private equity due diligence and underwriting including experience with third-party advisors
  • Acquisitions and portfolio management deal experience
